Has anyone ever used Bare Minerals Makeup by Bare Escentauls?
I bought the kit, it supposed to be easy to use. You just swirl, tap and buff. Has anyone else used it and liked it?
I cannot say enough good things about this kit!!!! I got it 2 years ago, and still use it religiously!
Pros: *Their claim is completely true. You really don’t feel the makeup on your skin, and it gives you complete, natural-looking coverage. The only thing you have to be careful about is that the kit is your shade.
*The brushes last a while. As I said before, I’ve used this kit for 2 years and have only had to replace the product two or three times. I used the Buki Brush mostly because I had some acne scars to cover up. I think it was the cleanser I was using on the brushes (Johnson’s Baby Shampoo) that made the bristles stiff and begin to fall out, but I’m pretty sure that, had I not made that mistake, the brush would be as good as it was when I bought it.
*You really CAN sleep in it. The company advertises BareMinerals as “So pure you can sleep in it.” I unintentionally tested this claim after getting home around 12 am, and when I woke up my skin was clearer than it was when I had gone to bed. I think it was a combination of the benefits you get from skipping a day of putting harsh chemicals on your skin every once in a while, and the good things the minerals do for your skin. I wouldn’t do this often though; makeup shouldn’t really be a nighttime treatment. But it’s nice not to worry about the condition of your skin if you’re just too tired to remove your makeup.
*The right shade will match your skin PERFECTLY. A little while after I started using the kit, my mom and grandma both complimented me on my skin – they both said it was even-toned and glowed. Yay!
Unfortunately, no product is perfect. I have experienced a few cons in using this makeup:
*The packaging isn’t genius. I know that the application is a big part of Bare Escentuals’ advertising plan, but after a while the caps get a little disgusting from rubbing makeup on them day after day. I’m not sure how avoidable it is, but I’ve not tried to clean them out ever, so it may be worth a try. Also, they’re very easy to spill. This isn’t a big problem if you can clean the makeup out of whatever you got it on, but because it’s powder it just has the tendency to get everywhere. Also, beware of the fact that any airflow directed at the container can cause a rather annoying could of makeup to form…
*The bristles of the brushes can fall out. I received a Baby Buki Brush as a free gift, and left it in the packaging until my regular Buki Brush was completely destroyed from washing. It may have been for that reason that for the first month or so that I used it, I would get an abundance of bristles on my face. It really doesn’t make a difference because the brushes are so thick, but it was pretty annoying.
So now, some tips:
*Applying it right after you apply moisturizer gives you the most natural look. For me, at least. I’m a fan of Cetaphil. Cream in winter, lotion in summer.
*I don’t know if your kit came with Warmth, but if it did, use it. It really makes your skin glow.
*Use a lighter color in winter and a darker color in winter.
