Hyper Terminal is a control over the bad times. Back in the day, communications ASCII serial and codes were things you need to do the job. You can use hyper terminal for a lot of things, and I use very often, but not something that the user medium has no need. Most users do not want and never have to read an ASCII string sent to the computer of an industrial PLC or send a formatted ASCII string print to a printer via serial or parallel port. Most users do not need to emulate "dumb" terminals or play with modems using dark command strings. If you look at computers, you'll know when to use Hyper Terminal or many clones. Otherwise, forget it.
