Swipe Terminal 3 Questions About NYC MTA (subway, LIRR)
Hey guys, just 3 quick questions about using the / LI NYC MTA system, I havent used in a while. 1) My friend is coming on the Amtrak train, can I go to the platform to greet her arrival, or should not be taking the escalators to me in the terminal principal? 2) We will travel from Penn Station to Long Island. If I buy a metro-card, can I use one of the two. As in, go Go, go, give the card to her, she swipes, I remain in .. or would have to use two separate cards? 3) The trains run 24 / 7 right?
Just to correct the above posts. The LIRR operates 24 hours a day on most lines, the trains are somewhat less frequent in the evening to the morning. The subway in New York also operates 24 hours a day with less frequency in hours overnight. Figure an hour or two for the LIRR service on overnight. Every 30 minutes to the subway at night. To clarify metro card is not valid LIRR. They sell tickets at the terminal of Penn Station specifically for the railway. Metro Card valid for buses urban and metro.
